This policy explains how HooRaise LLC ("HooRaise", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects information when you use our website and fundraising platform, whether you run a campaign, take part in one, or donate.
Information we collect
Organizers and co-managers
- Name, email address, mobile number and password.
- Organization details such as its name, website, and nonprofit status, including a tax ID (EIN) and any documents you upload to verify it.
- Campaign content you add: descriptions, photos, videos, sponsor logos and links, goals, milestones and incentives.
Participants and parents
- Participant name, optional photo, personal goal and group.
- For a parent or guardian added to a participant’s page: name, email and mobile number.
- Contacts a participant or parent adds as potential donors: name, email and/or mobile number.
Donors
- Name, email, optional mobile number, gift amount, an optional message, and ZIP or postal code.
- Card details are entered with and processed by our payment processor. We never store full card numbers.
Usage information
- When people log in, add donors and open pages, so organizers can see who is taking part. We also collect standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited.
How we use information
- To run campaigns: show campaign and participant pages, process donations, send receipts and thank-you messages.
- To send campaign messages by email and text. A donor gets a kickoff message, at most one reminder a week and a last-day message, and reminders stop once they give.
- To show organizers their progress, including who has logged in, who has added donors, and a map of roughly where gifts came from, based on ZIP code, never a street address.
- To pay out funds, prevent fraud, provide support and improve the service.
Text messages
We send text messages only about campaigns you were invited to support or are part of. We do not sell or rent mobile numbers, and we do not share mobile numbers or text-message consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing. Mobile information is shared only with the service providers that deliver our messages. Reply STOP to any text to stop all texts from us; reply HELP for help. See our text message terms.
Children’s privacy
Participants are often students under 13. Their pages are created by their school, team or club organizer, or by a parent or guardian. We collect only what a campaign needs: a name, an optional photo and a goal. Children do not need to give us an email address or phone number. A parent or guardian can be added to manage a child’s page. Parents can ask us to review or delete their child’s information at any time by emailing support@hooraise.com. Organizers who add children’s information confirm that they have the permission their school or club requires. [Have a lawyer confirm the consent approach under COPPA.]
What is public
Campaign and participant pages are public to anyone with the link, including the participant’s name, photo, goal and progress. Donor names and messages may appear on the page unless the donor chooses to give anonymously. Gift amounts are shown only where the campaign displays them. Campaigns that ended more than 12 months ago are taken off the public web and kept only in the team’s private archive.
Who we share information with
- The campaign’s organizers see the donations and donor contact details for their own campaign, so they can thank donors and keep records.
- Participants and parents see the donors they added and the gifts to their own page.
- Service providers that process payments, send email and text messages, and host our servers, only to provide those services to us.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
We do not sell personal information.
How long we keep information
We keep campaign records, including donations and receipts, for as long as needed for the organization’s records, tax and legal requirements. [Set a retention period, for example 7 years for financial records.] You can ask us to delete personal information we no longer need to keep.
Security
We use encrypted connections, hashed passwords and limited staff access. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us right away if you think your account has been misused.
Your choices and rights
- Update your account details at any time after logging in.
- Unsubscribe from emails with the link in any email, and from texts by replying STOP.
- Ask to access, correct or delete your information by emailing support@hooraise.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws.
Changes
If we make important changes, we’ll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let account holders know by email.
